First and foremost, it should be noted that this work is by Lester Horton, a world renowned modern dancer and teacher, secondly, it is important to state that this was filmed and choreographed in 1948. This work is primarily about adultery and the sin that is associated with it. In this dance, the male role feels that his wife had been unfaithful to him, thus he is planning on punishing her, to show her her place in the marriage. Depending on one's perception of the dance, the female role can either come across as though she is actually guilty, or that she is fearful of her husband, yet she is actually innocent. This is one of my favorite dances, because of it's seeming simplicity, as well as the greatly controversial issue that is discussed. To watch this dance, view the link below.
